I read that he was raised a Catholic by ethnically Croatian parents. He chose to live most of his life in Belgrade, because, as I would agree, that it is the best city to live in the former Yugoslavia. He was truly a “Yugoslavian” writer.

Ivo Andric is Serbian writer, he lived in Bosnia but his nationality is Serbian. Please check facts before publishing… Greetings from Belgrade!

I have just finished the book http://silverseason.wordpress.com/ and admire what Andric accomplished. Reading it also made me acutely away of how little I know about Balkan history and the Ottoman Turks.
