Oh my god! So you really become one of us! I like the way you raise a your kids!
Now I Am 62 years old. Me and my children have been Tito's pioneers. With blue cap with star and red scarf around the neck .
And yes! All in Yugoslavia, we sang songs about Tito!
Now sing another song ... Some strange people we are!

"Poor remember and quickly forgetting" our proverb!
Happy birthday to you!

Place for photo is great!

Tim,

It is a very big park and there are lots of choices. We stayed in a private apartment (a bit small for US standards) in Kaluđerske Bare. It was close to several hikes, horseback riding, and a monastery.

Wow, I'm so sorry for these "kids" slaughtering people they know absolutely nothing about, on the opposite side of the globe!
I'm only disappointed that U.S. didn't have the guts to launch a land invasion here back in '99.
They would receive very warm welcome, salads were already prepared, we just waited for the meat.
Too much have passed from Vietnam, it's time for another spanking.

Really cool write-up :) I'm an American who's been in Belgrade for a little over a week so far--staying for a month. Found your entry while looking up "gypsy cars" in Belgrade (I don't know what they're actually called but they're very bare-bones vehicles that look like farm equipment, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) having seen a bunch of them in my neighborhood in the Bohemian District and was pleasantly surprised to find such a well-though-out ethnography of this culture from another "outsider", awesome.

I've been keeping a journal of my travels as well... I can only aspire to have such astute observations as yours!
